Description

Hua Shan Yellow Sprout is a yellow tea produced in the Huo Shan region of Anhui province. Yellow tea is relatively unknown to most tea drinkers in the West, as it is a rare and prestigious category of green tea. This tea is celebrated for its unique production process and exceptional quality, making it a highly sought-after variety among tea enthusiasts.

The dry leaves are delicate yellowish-green and slender, uniform, and full of single bud tips. Once steeped, they produce a bright, clear, and pale yellow infusion. The aroma is fresh, with a sweet, floral fragrance like honey and a prominent roasted chestnut scent with delicate orchid notes. At first sip, you will enjoy the soft and silky mouthfeel, and its lingering flavour is both refreshing and satisfying for a refined taste.

This yellow tea is very impressive. Both the taste and smell is sweet and fresh. It is different from green tea.

A creamy, sweet delight that surprisingly tasted more like a fine oolong than I anticipated! The itty bitty leaves brewed into a gorgeous golden nectar, with a fantastic fragrance of orchids and honey on the nose.

The mouthfeel lingered really nicely, tasting of potent milky smoothness on first contact...which evolved into some velvety astringency with a floral sweetness on the tongue's base after each sip. I came close to over-steeping the first couple sessions, definitely recommend: 1) delicate pouring technique (for the first several steeps: aim the hot water at the edge of your tea pot or gaiwan, not directly on the leaves); and 2) very quick steeping times for the first half-dozen pours, no more than 20-30 seconds, and this extended the life of the tea well past 10+ steeps.

This is an exceptional and unique tea, very grateful for the tasting experience - thank you!
