Description

Fukamushi Sencha Kakegawa comes from Kakegawa region, renowned throughout Japan for its high quality deep steamed Sencha! Fukamushi Sencha Kakegawa is made solely from the prized Asatsuyu tea bush from the 2nd flush harvest in Kagoshima Japan. Our Fukamushi Sencha Kakegawa is a classic deep steamed sencha full of shimmering, iridescent jade color! Once prepared you will appreciate the vaporous aromas of a summer sea breeze and fresh baked bread. Fukamushi Sencha Kakegawa has zero bitterness, delicate sweetness, mild astringency, a smooth texture on the tongue, and a clean vegetal taste. This is a perfect sencha tea to drink every day!

This type of tea (deep-steamed) is my absolute favorite. I am a bit biased having lived among the tea fields in Kakegawa for a few years and grown a strong affinity for it.
It is a little more bitter than more popular varieties and so pairs well with a sweet.
I like to brew at 195F for around 5 seconds and can get two or three large cups from a single 1.5 tsp scoop of tea.

A very pleasant tea to brew. The tea has mix notes of vegetable and grass. No bitterness if brewed properly. I dont recommend to brew the leaves more than once since there is this weird taste that develops that is not pleasant at all. That being said, I had to refine my brewing technique with this tea because its not so forgiving. Once you master it, you will get a very pleasant tea. I will definitely buy this one again.

This is a great tea. Fantastic colour and flavour, and reliable. some of the other teas can be good one pouch, less good the next.
